The Great Wall of China is one of the most famous historical landmarks in the world. If you are going to visit China sometime soon, then it makes sense that you would want to see the wall. The wall is gigantic, though, and it’s important to know a few things before you go on your trip. Take a look at the following things that you need to know before going to the Great Wall of China.

There Are Many Sections to Visit

There are actually many sections of the wall to visit. Some of them will be more challenging to traverse than others and some will be busier. If you want to enjoy a less touristy wall experience, then visiting Jinshanling or Mutianyu will be preferable to popular tourist destinations such as Badaling. You can enjoy a quieter and less crowded experience by going to certain sections of the wall.

Some Parts of the Wall Are Steep

Parts of the wall are going to be incredibly steep. In fact, there are certain sections of the wall that are nearly vertical. Some of the parts of the wall can only be traversed by those who are very physically capable. If you aren’t in good physical condition, then you will want to choose a section of the wall to visit that is more suited to your capabilities.

Dress Appropriately

Many tourists fail to dress appropriately when they are visiting the wall. It can actually get very windy and sometimes the temperatures will become rather chilly. For this reason, it’s advisable to dress in layers so that you can stay warm and shed clothing if you do happen to get too warm. You want to be able to enjoy your time at the wall instead of worrying about how cold you are.

Bring Lots of Money or Bring Your Own Food

Food and water will cost you quite a bit of money while you’re spending time at the wall. You will either need to bring a lot of money for lunch or you should pack your own food. It’s a good idea to consider bringing some water bottles with you in a backpack. You want to stay hydrated since you’ll be spending a lot of time walking.
